oh to be a summer readaholic!

I never thought that I could ever read so much as I have these past couple of months! Holy cow, I thought it was impossible...but I have officially become a readaholic!
Hopefully this crave to read will still be around once school starts and I have to read wonderful textbooks!
But this summer I have enjoyed reading....

1.

This book was so good! It was so uplifting and motivating. After finishing this one it made me sit and think about my life and what I could improve on...it made me think of ways that I could work on enjoying life to the fullest extent and how I can work on becoming my best me.

2.

Where do I even begin?! I could not put this book down. Haha, it started out kind of as a joke. Jon's dad loves this book! Every time we went to visit his family he mentioned Eragon. So I felt like I really needed to read it, so I could get his highest approval haha ;) And he highly recommended that I read it, so after Jon finished it he passed it on to me. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have got to admit that it is now probably one of my favorite books!

3.

4.

I can't believe that I haven't read these books until now! I have been missing out....the Harry Potter books definitely blow the movies out of the water! I can't wait to get the next couple of books from home!

5.

After reading the 2nd Harry Potter I didn't have the next ones to start reading so I was in need of a book. So I went to Seagull Book! I left with Montana Summer and I read it in a little over 24 hours. I have never read a book so quickly, I could not put this book down. It was so cheesey, corny, and wonderful! If you're in the mood for a clean and happy love story this is a book you should read! Definitely worth the buy!

Now I am bookless and waiting until I go home to get the next couple HP's!
Do you have any other book suggestions? What are your favorites?

someday...

I would love to have these in my garden and yard...

Peonies...

Alliums...

Hens and Chicks...

A few Sunflowers...

And you can't forget the cute Poppies!

I used to not really care too much/appreciate gardens and yards, but this summer I am taking care of this lady who has the prettiest yard. It is just covered in beautiful plants and flowers. I have been helping her take care of a lot of them and it has made me want to have a wonderful garden and yard someday...I am looking forward to it, but for now I am just getting a few hints and ideas for what I might want in the future! :)

oh yum!

this friday i am moving to a different apartment for the summer so this week i have been trying to eat a lot of the food i have in my fridge/freezer/cupboard. i forgot about a lot of the things i had in my freezer and was surprised to find sirloin steak and frozen rolls. and with those two things i made...

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak
(so easy and so good!)

Ingredients:
2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 2 inch strips
garlic powder to taste
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cube beef bouillon
1/4 cup hot water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, with liquid
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt

Directions:
1. Sprinkle strips of sirloin with garlic powder to taste. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil and brown the seasoned beef strips. Transfer to a slow cooker.
2. Mix bouillon cube with hot water until dissolved, then mix in cornstarch until dissolved. Pour into the slow cooker with meat. Stir in onion, green peppers, stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and salt.
3. Cover, and cook on High for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low for 6 to 8 hours.

and...

Sticky Buns
(delicious treat for dessert or for breakfast! try it out!)

Ingredients:
24 count frozen yeast rolls
1 c. brown sugar
4 oz. Butterscotch (cook and serve pudding)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped pecans
1 stick butter

Directions:
1. The night before spray 9x13 pan with cooking spray
2. Sprinkle pecans in bottom of pan and then place the frozen bread dough on top of the pecans
3. Sprinkle with the pudding packet, cinnamon, and brown sugar
4. Melt butter and pour over rolls
5. Cover with cloth and let it sit over night to rise
6. Cook at 350 for 30 min.

so much sugar...

i haven't had so much sugar in one day as i did yesterday...
my roommates from snow hall wanted to get together and go get some yummy fazookies at firehouse pizza (i wish i would have taken pictures). they were delicious! if you ever make the right choice to get one i would recommend the english toffee. (so GOOD!) :)
then when i got home from work later my roommate sara made us some really yummy chocolate chip pancakes.
and then we decided to go and top those pancakes off by eating a huge sink full of ice cream at angies...(the pancakes before were such a bad idea!)

"We Cleaned the Sink at Angies!" :)
the after effect...
a slight sugar rush, then soon after hitting a wall and falling asleep within seconds of hitting our pillows.
it was worth it! we had a fun night :)
